The most beautiful houses of lights in Austria

Once upon a time, the Magi made a pilgrimage to Bethlehem. Now, people from near and far make a pilgrimage to Austria's most beautiful Christmas houses to enjoy the impressive displays of lights. In the following article, we present the 5 most beautiful houses of lights in Austria. These not only make children's eyes shine, but also make adult hearts beat faster.

Christmas House Bad Tatzmannsdorf

The House of Lights in Bad Tatzmannsdorf is Europe's largest private collection of Christmas decorations and sparkling Christmas figures. The sea of lights in the 5000m² garden of the Gollnhuber family, attracts thousands of spectators from near and far with its magical atmosphere during the Christmas season. Every year, new Christmas decorations from America are added. Among others, the "Grinch" or "Spongebob Squarepants". Sabine Gollnhuber has been collecting different Christmas decorations for over 20 years. For almost four months, she and her family are busy making the entire estate shine like Christmas. The sea of lights then shines for about 6 weeks a year.

Also this year you can visit Bad Tatzmannsdorf, under Corona measures with advance notice. From December 7, 2020 to January 10, 2021, the Winter Wonderland is open. A good alternative for all Christkindlmarkt lovers.  The net proceeds of the Christmas House Bad Tatzmannsdorf will be donated.

St. Oswald

The Christmas House makes children's eyes light up and even leaves adults standing in amazement in front of the garden fence. Exactly such reactions are for Dominik Viertlmayr, the owner of the XXXL Christmas lights, the incentive to decorate the house year after year.

As with all Christmas illuminations, it started small with this house. At first, there were only a few illuminated Christmas figures in the garden. Over the years, however, it became more and more. This year 20,000 lamps, 50 fairy lights and 70 figures decorate the Lower Austrian house. For all onlookers, the parking lot of the adjacent sports field comes just in time. This offers a wonderful view of the sparkling sea of lights. The children from the neighboring kindergarten and elementary school are also happy when it finally gets dark again and the lights of the house shine.

Also with this house the structure is connected with much time. One week before Advent, Dominik Viertlmayr starts with the decoration. It takes up to 40 hours until the house shines in its full splendor. Until January 7, the extravagant Christmas house can be admired in the Waldviertel.

Wagram

On the luminous house of Wagram, sparkle every evening from the first weekend of Advent until January 6 thousands of LED lights. The magical estate of the Tirok family casts a spell on Christmas lovers young and old. Not only LED lights but also Christmas figures up to six meters tall on the open space, decorate the garden. The house can be admired daily from 16:15 to 21 clock.

Langkampfen

The Christmas house in Niederbreitenbach was also upgraded and expanded again with Christmas elements. The house of Brigitta and Stefan Heger, lets visitors marvel. Nine timers, 36 junction boxes, 220 meters of cable keep the work going. House and garden are illuminated daily from 5 to 10 p.m.. Not once, a traffic jam has formed in front of the Hegers' house because people want to "drive by." Now and then, the two mingle with visitors and listen to what is said. There have not yet been any nasty comments.

The Hegers enchant the whole neighborhood with their house. Whether old or young - children want to know if the Christ Child lives here and older people are moved to tears just by the sight of it.

On Friday evening before the first Advent, the lights are switched on during a small celebration, and then it's all over for the Three Wise Men. After that, everything, down to the smallest detail, is dismantled again. Including the 400 dowels in the house wall - the holes are filled up again.

Christmas house, Niederzirking

Erich Haider's house in Ried in der Riedmark is known far beyond the district borders. For 25 years, the pensioner has invested a lot of time and money in the eye-catching Christmas decorations. First and foremost, the pensioner is concerned with making people happy. From year to year, the obsession with Christmas decorations has grown. Today, the house in Niederzirking is an attraction for all Christmas lovers. Even the switch-on party with punch and cookies has long become a tradition. Already six weeks before the "lights start", the 83-year-old prepares for the big switch-on celebration. You have to have been there to understand what happens then. A great deal of loving detail can be spotted throughout the property. Snowmen, angels, Christmas sleighs and a pretty nativity scene let young and old feel the magic of Christmas. You can marvel at the Winter Wonderland in Niederzirking until 9 January 2020.
